    Description

    a mask board of exceptional sculptural quality from Papua New Guinea, dating back to the mid-20th century.
    The object was most likely not made for ritual use, however it is a decorative mask
    of outstanding quality made around the 1950s/60s. It is made of mid density wood, colored with pigments and two inset cowries used as eyes.
    I have once purchased the object at an estate auction in Germany.
